Jakarta composite index rose 53.684 points (+0.858%) to 6,311.014 while LQ45 soared 1.06% at 1,005.20. There were 9.261 billion shares traded worth of Rp5.197 trillion, including transaction of Rp925.56 billion in negotiation market. Foreign investors bought a net Rp349.06 billion in regular market during midday trade. 255 shares rose, while 149 declined, 140 unchanged, and 173 untraded.
According to JISDOR, rupiah added 63 points (+0.44%) at 14,271 while Spot added 50 points (+0.35%) at 14,270 against the USD.
Stocks in Asia rose on Wednesday after Wall Street surged overnight amid hopes for a rate cut and positive improvement on U.S – China trade dispute.
On the data front, Japan posted a trade deficit of JPY 967 billion in May 2019 compared with a JPY 577 billion shortfall in the same month a year earlier and market expectations of a JPY 979 billion gap. Exports fell 7.8% from a year earlier to JPY 5.84 trillion in May 2019, compared to market consensus of a 7.7% drop and after a after a 2.4% fall in April. It was the sixth straight month of falls in shipments, amid weakening global demand and the US-China trade dispute. Imports declined 1.5% year-on-year to JPY 6.80 trillion in May 2019, compared to market expectations of a 0.2% increase and following a 6.4% rise in the previous month.
Oil prices were mixed after surging Tuesday with Brent added 2 cents (+0.03%) at $62.16 per barrel while U.S. West Texas Intermediate added 10 cents (+0.19%) to $54.00 a barrel.
