D’ORIGIN Advisory, Louisa Rahardjo and Veni Fitriani – Indonesian stocks were slightly higher with rupiah made a significant gain on Tuesday while foreign inflows continued as economic growth in Indonesia remained solid despite global rout and natural disasters.
Jakarta composite added 0.971 points (+0.971%) to 5,921.565 with LQ45 added 0.04% at 945.147. Trading volume were 4.374 billion shares worth of Rp3.47 trillion including transaction of Rp371.44 billion in negotiation market. Foreign investors purchased a net Rp209.48 billion in regular market during midday trade. 209 shares rose, while 163 declined, 127 unchanged and 176 untraded.
According to JISDOR, the currency rose 81 points (+0.54%) to 14,891, while Spot rate jumped 135 cents (+0.902%) at 14,840.00 against the USD.
Asian stocks were mixed following a mixed session in U.S. markets ahead of midterm elections.
On Tuesday, U.S. mid-term elections will determine whether Republicans keep control of Congress, and set the stage for Trump’s 2020 re-election bid.
Oil prices slipped on Tuesday as concerns that an economic slowdown may curb fuel demand growth overshadowed the reintroduction of sanctions on Iran. Brent crude slipped 29 cents (-0.40%) to $72.88 per barrel while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures fell 14 cents (-0.22%) to $62.96 per barrel.
