D’ORIGIN Advisory, Louisa Rahardjo and Veni Fitriani – Indonesian stocks fell on the last trading day of the month despite stronger rupiah as profit taking hit following yesterday’s solid gains with basic industry tumbled almost 2%.
Jakarta composite slipped 51.043 points (-0.836%) to 6,056.125 with LQ45 fell 1.14% at 966.459. Trading volume reached 14.065 billion shares worth of Rp16.781 trillion including transaction of Rp2.72 trillion in negotiation market. Foreign investors sold a net Rp477.38 billion in regular market. 178 shares rose, while 242 declined, 142 unchanged and 120 untraded.
According to JISDOR, the currency strengthened 69 points (+0.48%) to 14,339, while Spot rate added 80 points (+0.556%) at 14,300.00 against the USD.
Asian stocks were mostly higher while Europeans down on Friday ahead of an important meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping at the G-20 summit in Argentina. Meanwhile, another subject expected to cause a stir at the summit is that of Brexit with continuing as concerns over what the U.K.’s future relationship with the EU will look.
Oil prices swung after industry sources said Russia had accepted the need to cut production, together with OPEC ahead of its meeting next week. Brent crude added 3 cent (+0.05%) to $59.54 per barrel while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures fell 22 cents (-0.43%) to $51.23 per barrel.
