D’ORIGIN Advisory, Louisa Rahardjo and Veni Fitriani – Indonesian stocks recouped some of recent losses amid gains in global markets with all but agriculture stocks rose while foreign outflows continued.
Jakarta composite climbed 38.99 points (+0.642%) to 6,115.577 with LQ45 rose 0.61% at 975.256. Trading volume were 13.893 billion shares worth of Rp10.222 trillion including transaction of Rp3.33 trillion in negotiation market. Foreign investors sold a net Rp644.83 billion in regular market during midday trade. 248 shares rose, while 177 declined, 138 unchanged and 124 untraded.
According to JISDOR, the currency recovered 36 points (+0.25%) to 14,577, while Spot rate stable at 14,595.00 against the USD.
Asian and European stocks were higher on Wednesday with investors continued to focus on the outlook for U.S. – China trade talks. Meanwhile, shares of automakers in China, Japan and South Korea jumping following news reports that China would cut tariffs on car made in the U.S. to 15% from the current 40%. Later in the day, investors will receive U.S. inflation data.
Oil prices soared on Wednesday, lifted by expectations that an OPEC-led supply cut announced last week for 2019 would stabilise markets as well as hopes that long-running Sino-American trade tensions could ease. Brent climbed 78 cents (+1.30%) to $60.98 per barrel while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude rose 85 cents (+1.65%) to $52.50 per barrel.
