Indonesian stocks finished lower for a fifth consecutive day amid foreign outflows despite improved sentiments in global markets.
Jakarta composite index slightly retreated 7.209 points (-0.112%) to 6,419.116 with LQ45 fell 0.46% at 1,004.176. Trading volume were 15.466 billion shares worth of Rp9.566 trillion including transaction of Rp1.72 trillion in negotiation market. Foreign investors sold a net Rp970.85 billion in regular market. 127 shares rose, while 333 declined, 122 unchanged, 116 untraded and 114 untraded.
According to JISDOR, the currency recovered 61 points (+0.43%) to 14,027, while Spot rate rose 10 points (+0.07%) to 14,055.00 against the USD.
Markets in Asia and Europe mostly rose after U.S. President Donald Trump said Tuesday that he was open to postponing the March 2 deadline for tariffs if Washington and Beijing can reach a trade deal soon.
In Europe, Britain is expected to publish an annualized reading of inflation from January with the euro area set to report year-on-year industrial production figures for December later in the session. Meanwhile stateside, there will be consumer prices data on Wednesday local time.
Oil prices rose after OPEC said on Tuesday it had reduced oil production almost 800,000 bpd in January to 30.81 million bpd under its voluntary global supply pact. Brent added 54 points (+0.87%) at $62.96 per barrel while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude added 41 cents (+0.77%) to $53.51 per barrel.
