D’ORIGIN – Louisa Rahardjo and Veni Fitriani, Indonesian stocks finished modestly lower on Wednesday with investors digested a fresh round of corporate earnings.

 

Jakarta composite index slipped 15.267 points (-0.233%) to 6,525.683 with LQ45 retreated 0.30% at 1,021.779. Trading volume were 13.536 billion shares worth of Rp10.334 trillion including transaction of Rp3.25 trillion in negotiation market. Foreign investors sold a net Rp150.19 billion in regular market. 198 shares rose, while 246 declined, 149 unchanged, and 108 untraded.

 

According to JISDOR, the currency slipped 14 points (-0.10%) to 14,004, while Spot rate slipped 37 points (-0.26%) to 14,025.00 against the USD.

 

Asian stocks were mostly higher while Europeans opened lower ahead of a meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Vietnam.

 

In the meantime, investors continued to watch closely the development of U.S – China trade negotiations and Brexit deal.

 

Oil prices climbed after API reported U.S. crude oil inventories fell by 4.2 million barrels in the week to Feb. 22, to 444.3 million barrels. Brent added 10 cents (+0.15%) at $65.31 per barrel while U.S. West Texas Intermediate rose 24 (+0.43%) to $55.74 per barrel.
