D’ORIGIN – Louisa Rahardjo and Veni Fitriani, Indonesian shares tumbled on Monday as political situation remained uncertain after quick count showed incumbent leader Joko Widodo’s return to power for second five-year term. Every sector fell with miscellaneous industry tumbled as much as 3.55%.
Jakarta composite index slumped 92.478 points (-1.42%) to 6,414.743 while LQ45 retreated 1.70% at 1,012.554. Trading volume were 16.035 billion shares worth of Rp11.076 trillion including transaction of Rp4.95 trillion in negotiation market. Foreign investors sold a net Rp80.14 billion in regular market. 138 shares rose, while 309 declined, 124 unchanged, and 138 untraded.
According to JISDOR, the currency fell 40 points (-0.29%) to 14,056 while Spot rate fell 30 points (-0.21%) to 14,070.00 against the USD.
Stocks in Asia were mixed on Monday with markets in Australia, Hong Kong and most markets across Europe remained closed for the Easter holiday. Meanwhile, markets look ahead for a string of corporate earnings, U.S. economy data and central banks monetary policy this week.
Oil prices surged following a report that U.S. Secretary of State will announce the State Department will cease to grant sanctions waivers to countries that import crude or condensate from Iran. Brent rose $1.82 (+2.49%) at $73.76 per barrel while U.S. West Texas Intermediate rose $1.51 cents (+2.36%) to $65.51 a barrel.
