D’ORIGIN – Louisa Rahardjo and Veni Fitriani, Indonesian shares traded sideways with earnings season continued. Meanwhile, as much as Rp52 trillion foreign funds entered equity markets on the merger of BDMN and BBNP.
Jakarta composite index added 3.02 points (+0.047%) to 6,404.10 while LQ45 slipped 0.11% at 1,009.506. Trading volume were 13.709 billion shares worth of Rp56.962 trillion including transaction of Rp54.07 trillion in negotiation market. Foreign investors sold a net Rp227 billion in regular market during midday trade. 223 shares rose, while 166 declined, 153 unchanged, and 168 untraded.
According to JISDOR, rupiah stayed at 14,188 while Spot rate slipped 10 points (-0.07%) to 14,190.00 against the USD.
Asian stocks traded mixed on Monday afternoon after Wall Street finished at record highs on Friday following the release of better-than-expected U.S. economic data.
First-quarter gross domestic product expanded by 3.2%, the Bureau of Economic Analysis said in its initial read of the economy for that period while Economists polled expected the U.S. economy increased by 2.5% in the first quarter.
Oil prices fell on Monday, extending a slump from Friday that ended weeks of rallying, after President Donald Trump demanded that producer club OPEC raise output to soften the impact of U.S. sanctions against Iran. Brent fell 41 cents (-0.57%) at $71.74 per barrel while U.S. West Texas Intermediate fell 36 cents (-0.57%) to $62.94 a barrel.
