
Indonesia’s stocks rebounded from recent losses tracking bounce in regional markets despite tightening of restrictions.
The Jakarta city administration has officially announced that it will reinforce its micro-scale community activity restriction (micro PPKM) starting today. However, markets had expected larger restrictions as the country passed the 2 million mark in coronavirus cases after a record in new infections with hospital occupancy almost reach their maximum capacity.
Jakarta composite jumped 91.589 points (+1.527%) to 6,087.842 with LQ45 rose 1.11% to 868.471. There were 17.392 billion shares traded worth of Rp12.035 trillion, including transaction of Rp913 billion in negotiation market. Foreign investors sold a net Rp345.95 billion in regular markets. 340 shares rose while 178 declined and 118 unchanged.
Finance ministry raised Rp30 trillion in state securities auction today from a total incoming offer of Rp69.953 trillion.
According to JISDOR released Tuesday afternoon, Rupiah climbed 32 points (+0.22%) to 14,421 while spot rate added 25 points (+0.17%) at 14,400.
Stocks across Asia-Pacific bounced back from four-week lows following a rebound on Wall Street as investors were reassured by signals that the Federal Reserve would continue to support the economic recovery from the coronavirus pandemic.

Major cryptocurrencies are currently trading in the red, with Bitcoin, Ethereum and Dogecoin seeing massive drops in prices after China expanded its crackdown on cryptocurrency mining. Investors also became worried after bitcoin’s price formed a chart formation called “death cross”, which occurs when the 50-day moving average dips below the longer-term 200-day moving average.
Oil prices swung on Tuesday after Brent topped $75 a barrel for the first time since April 2019, as investors remained bullish about a quick recovery in global oil demand and as concerns eased over an early return of Iranian crude. Brent crude slipped 25 cents (-0.33%) at $74.65 per barrel and U.S crude declined 55 cents (-0.75%) at $73.11 per barrel.
