Indonesian Stocks Trade Sideways, Foreigners are Net Sellers in Regular Market

Jakarta composite finished slightly higher by 5.401 points (-0.081%) to 6,683.277. LQ45 added 0.05% to 958.84. There were 26.278 billion shares traded worth of Rp13.431 trillion, including transaction of Rp1.175 trillion in negotiation market.

Foreign investors sold net Rp435 88 billion in regular market. 231 shares rose while 279 declined and 160 unchanged. BBKP, PGAS, ARTO, CPRO were the main supporters to index.

According to JISDOR released Wednesday afternoon, Rupiah stayed at 14,272 while spot rate slipped 15 points (-0.11%) to 14,270.

Asian shares retreated as worries about inflation set off expectations the U.S. Federal Reserve might accelerate its plans to raise interest rates.

In Europe,  stocks inched higher with  markets continue to monitor the acute Covid crisis in the region this week as more countries considering stricter restrictions and partial lockdowns to curb rising infections.

On the data front, Singapore’s economy grew 7.1% in the third quarter as compared with a year ago, according to the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

Elsewhere, the Reserve Bank of New Zealand on Wednesday announced its decision to raise the official cash rate to 0.75%, in line with expectations.

On Tuesday, the flash composite PMI for the Eurozone’s largest economy rose to 52.8, from 52.0 in October, suggesting that the slowdown in economic growth seen across the private sector over the previous three months is levelling off.

Turkey’s lira sank the most in the world, reaching yet another record low, after President Recep Tayyip Erdogan defended his pursuit of lower interest rates to boost economic growth and job creation.

The Fed will release minutes later in the day from its November policy meeting, potentially giving investors more details on the central bank’s plan to start trimming bond purchases that have helped keep interest rates low.

Oil rose further the day after the United States and other countries would release less from their stockpiles than expected. Brent climbed 44 cents (+0.53%) at $82.75 per barrel and U.S WTI added 45 cents (+0.57%) at $78.95 a barrel.
