D’ORIGIN Advisory, Louisa Rahardjo – Indonesian stocks extended gain, supported by every sector, amid strong corporate earnings. Meanwhile, rupiah strengthened following trade surplus data and as foreign funds returned to the equity market.
Jakarta composite rose 67.803 points (+1.169%) to 5,868.62 while LQ45 rose 1.22% at 928.657. Trading volume were 8.715 billion shares worth of Rp6.336 trillion including transaction of Rp1.23 trillion in negotiation market. Foreign investors bought a net Rp447.13 billion in regular market. 287 shares rose, while 133 declined, 128 unchanged and 120 untraded.
According to JISDOR, the currency climbed 28 points (+0.18%) to 15,178 while spot rate added 45 cents (+0.30%) at 15,185.00 against the USD.
Asian and European stocks were higher after Wall Street gained overnight amid strong earnings in U.S. companies. Meanwhile, Hong Kong’s stock market is closed for a public holiday.
On the data front, annual inflation rate in the United Kingdom eased to 2.4% in September of 2018 from 2.7% in August, below market expectations of 2.6%.
Oil prices rose after American Petroleum Institute data showed U.S. crude inventories fell by 2.1 million barrels last week, compared with analyst expectations for a build of 2.2 million barrels. Brent crude added 31 cents (+0.38%) at $81.72 per barrel while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures added 21 cents (+0.26%) at $72.11 per barrel.
