Jakarta composite slipped 8.874 points (-0.15%) to 5,897.418 with LQ45 fell 0.29% at 938.858. Trading volume were 5.012 billion shares worth of Rp3.073 trillion including transaction of Rp517.53 billion in negotiation market. Foreign investors purchased a net Rp209.58 billion in regular market during midday trade. 192 shares rose, while 193 declined, 124 unchanged and 164 untraded.

 

The Indonesian economy advanced 5.17% year-on-year in the third quarter of 2018, slightly beating market consensus of 5.15% and following a 5.27% growth in the previous period. Meanwhile, gross domestic product grew 3.09% quarter-on-quarter in the September of 2018, slightly above market estimates of 3.07% and after a 4.21% expansion in the previous period.

 

According to JISDOR, the currency soared 115 points (+0.76%) to 14,972, while Spot rate slipped 32 cents (-0.21%) at 14,982.00 against the USD.

 

Asia stocks were lower on Monday morning as investors remained cautious over global growth prospects while Chinese President Xi Jinping tried to position China as globalization champion in a major speech. In the meantime, slowing global growth remains a concern for investors.

 

Oil prices fell on Monday as the start to U.S. sanctions against Iran’s fuel exports was softened by waivers that will allow some countries to still import Iranian crude. Brent crude slipped 42 cents (-0.58%) to $72.41 per barrel while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures fell 45 cents (-0.71%) to $62.69 per barrel.
