Indonesian stocks finished flat as investors took a breather from recent rally. During this week, index has gained 133.39 points (2.21%)

Jakarta composite slipped 1.986 points (-0.032%) to 6,203.431 with LQ45 fell 1.04% to 844.137. There were 27.821 billion shares traded worth of Rp15.904 trillion, including transaction of Rp763 billion in negotiation market. Foreign investors sold a net Rp159.97 billion in regular market. 214 shares rose while 262 declined and 171 unchanged.

Indonesia’s foreign exchange reserves increased by some $200 million in July to $137.3 billion, equivalent to 8.9 months of imports, boosted by the government’s global bond issuance, the central bank said on Friday.

The state-owned bank that focuses on financing MSMEs, BBRI, posted a consolidated net profit of Rp12.54 trillion in the first semester of 2021, up 22.94% from the same period last year of Rp10.20 trillion. BBRI itself posted an annual growth of 29.15% in net interest income to Rp47.14 trillion from the same period last year of Rp36.50 trillion.

BUKA surged on its first day of trading after raising $1.5 billion in Indonesia’s biggest-ever initial public offering. Meanwhile, MLPL is reported to be one of BUKA shareholders, in line with the efforts to become a tech super holding.

BRMS secured the shareholder’s approval for its Rights Issue plan. As disclosed in the Company’s Information Disclosure and Press Release (dated on 30th of June 2021), BRMS plans to do Rights Issue transaction to raise fund to finance the development of its gold mine project in Gorontalo, Sulawesi.

Rupiah extended losses on Friday. According to JISDOR released Friday afternoon, Rupiah retreated 27 points (-0.19%) to 14,369 while spot rate slipped 10 points (-0.07%) at 14,350.

Shares in Asia slipped while Europeans were mixed with investors await the release of a closely watched U.S. jobs report.

Stateside, trade deficit in the widened to a new record of $75.7 billion in June 2021, from a revised $71.0 billion in the previous month and compared with market expectations of a $73.9 billion gap. Imports jumped 2.1% to an all-time high, adding to signs that domestic demand consolidated its recovery from the pandemic hit, while exports rose at a softer 0.6%.

Meanwhile, a separate report showed U.S. weekly jobless claims data released Thursday matched expectations with Initial jobless claims totaled 385,000 for the week ended July 31. The closely watched July U.S. jobs report due later in the day is expected to deliver further signs of growth in the United States, soothing some of those concerns about the global economy and further boosting the rising dollar.

Gold prices were flat following declines in previous session amid strength in the dollar index and a decline in U.S. unemployment claims.

World’s largest traded cryptocurrency bitcoin rose over 1% today, gaining for the second consecutive day. Ether maintained a rally on a software upgrade that will trim the pace at which tokens are minted.

Oil prices rose on rising Middle East tensions, while fresh movement restrictions imposed by countries to counter a surge in COVID-19 cases continue to threaten the demand recovery. Brent crude climbed 46 cents (+0.65%) to $71.75 per barrel and U.S WTI crude added 40 cents (+0.58%) at $69.49 barrel.
