
Indonesian stocks rebounds with foreign inflows continue.
Jakarta composite rose 47.965 points (+0.721%) to 6,701.316. LQ45 added 0.99% to 949.858. There were 17.98 billion shares traded worth of Rp11.31 trillion, including transaction of 827 billion in negotiation market. 259 shares rose while 251 declined and 167 unchanged.
Foreign investors bought a net Rp989.93 billion in regular market, mostly in BBCA by Rp627.1 billion and BBNI by Rp92.8 billion.
Bank Indonesia released the position of Indonesia’s foreign exchange reserves at the end of December 2021 which was recorded at $144.905 billion. This figure remains high despite decreasing compared to end of November 2021 of $145.9 billion.
The position of foreign exchange reserves is equivalent to financing 8 months of imports or 7.8 months of imports and servicing of government external debt, and is above the international adequacy standard of around 3 months of imports.
According to JISDOR released Thursday afternoon, Rupiah weakened 31 points (-0.22%) to 14,396 while Spot added 35 points (+0.24%) to 14,355.
Asian shares were mixed after two days of losses on Friday with investors awaited U.S. jobs data due later in the day.
Meanwhile in Europe, stocks fell sharply as fears over more aggressive tapering from the U.S. Federal Reserve continue to linger.
On the data front, Japan’s household spending posted an annual drop for the fourth straight month in November, a weaker-than-expected reading that threw into doubt hopes that a consumer demand recovery will give a major boost to the economy in the final quarter of 2021. Household spending fell 1.3% in November from a year earlier.
The benchmark 10-year Treasury yield rose as high as 1.75% on Thursday, with investors assessing the Fed’s faster-than-expected policy tightening.
The German trade surplus declined to €12 billion in November of 2021 from €16.8 billion a year earlier, as imports hit a record high. Imports jumped 19.3% yoy to an all-time high of €113.7 billion while exports rose 12.1% to €125.7 billion.
The number of U.S. initial jobless claims rose to 207,000 for the previous week. Investors now await the U.S. jobs report, including non-farm payrolls, due later in the day.
Oil prices rose on Thursday, extending a rally from the previous session, on escalating unrest in OPEC+ oil producer Kazakhstan and supply outages in Libya. Brent crude futures rose 76 cents (+0.93%) to $82.75 while U.S. crude markets increased 80 cents (+0.828%) to $80.28.
