D’ORIGIN – Louisa Rahardjo and Veni Fitriani, Indonesian stocks retreated on Wednesday dragged by every sector after a four session of gains.
Jakarta composite index fell 34.459 points (-0.555%) to 6,349.439 while LQ45 fell 0.78% at 1,015.122. There were 11.847 billion shares traded worth of Rp4.043 trillion, including transaction of Rp753.35 billion in negotiation market. Foreign investors sold a net 26.12 billion in regular market during midday trade. 161 shares rose, while 235 declined, 149 unchanged, and 174 untraded.
According to JISDOR, rupiah fell 20 points (-0.14%) at 14,160 while Spot retreated 5 points (-0.04%) at 14,140 against the USD.
Stocks in Asia were lower on Wednesday while equity markets in U.S. will have a half-day session on Wednesday and all day Thursday for Independence Day.
A private survey showed the Caixin Composite PMI declined to 50.6 in June 2019, the lowest reading since October 2018, from 51.5 in the previous month as services growth slowed to a four-month low at 52.0 vs 52.7 in May, while manufacturing output shrank for the first time in four months at 49.4 vs 50.2.
Oil prices climbed from a steep fall in the previous session. Ahead of government data due later on Wednesday, industry group the American Petroleum Institute said that U.S. crude inventories fell by 5 million barrels last week, more than the expected decrease of 3 million barrels. Brent added 18 cents (+0.29%) at $62.58 per barrel while U.S. West Texas Intermediate climbed 19 cents (+0.34%) to $56.44 a barrel.
