D’ORIGIN Advisory, Louisa Rahardjo and Veni Fitriani, Indonesian stocks snapped its three-day gains after swinging between gains and losses on Tuesday morning with investors watched the development of trade talks.

 

Jakarta composite index slipped 14.557 points (-0.232%) to 6,272.667 while LQ45 declined 0.58% at 996.925. Trading volume were 7.284 billion shares worth of Rp4.003 trillion including transaction of Rp475.17 trillion in negotiation market. Foreign investors purchased a net Rp189.1 billion in regular market during midday trade. 216 shares rose, while 171 declined, 145 unchanged and 159 untraded.

 

PT Sentra Food Indonesia Tbk made its trading debut today under stock ticker “FOOD”, soaring more than 68%. The company offered 33.33% of the paid up capital, aiming for Rp20.2 billion from the IPO.

 

Indonesia’s foreign exchange reserves jumped to US$120.7 billion in December, the highest since May after the government sold $3 billion of bonds overseas and the currency rebounded.

 

According to JISDOR, the currency rose 74 points (+0.52%) to 14,031, while Spot rate slipped 25 points (-0.18%) to 14,110.00 against the USD.

 

Asian stocks were mixed as the U.S and China are set to kick of the second day of trade negotiations with China said on Monday that it is willing to resolve its trade disputes with the U.S. on an equal footing.

 

Oil prices climbed amid hopes on the outcomes of U.S – China trade talks. Meanwhile, crude oil prices have benefited from OPEC production cuts that started late 2019. Brent added 9 cents (+0.16%) to $57.42 per barrel while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude climbed 9 cents (+0.19%) to $48.61 per barrel.
