D’ORIGIN – Louisa Rahardjo and Veni Fitriani, Indonesian stocks continued sinking to six-month low amid global risks, election dispute in the country and disappointing economic data.
Jakarta composite index tumbled 63.098 points (-1.055%) to 5,917.787 while LQ45 slumped 1.31% at 920.019. Trading volume were 10.269 billion shares worth of Rp3.369 trillion including transaction of Rp283.58 billion in negotiation market. Foreign investors sold a net Rp320.67 billion in regular market. Only 90 shares rose, while 315 declined, 119 unchanged, and 188 untraded.
According to JISDOR, rupiah retreated 10 points (-0.07%) at 14,458 while Spot rate added 10 points (+0.07%) to 14,445 against the USD.
Asian stocks were mixed on Thursday with trade tensions heated up after Trump signed an executive order Wednesday that could restrict Chinese telecommunication firms Huawei and ZTE Corp. from selling their equipment in the U.S.
Meanwhile, the recent release of weaker-than-expected economic data stoked fears that the U.S.-China trade war is dragging down global economic growth following weak China’s industrial data and U.S. retail sales.
Oil prices rose on Thursday for a third straight session amid conflict in Middle East. Brent up 34 cents (+0.47%) at $72.11 per barrel while U.S. West Texas Intermediate slipped 33 cents (+0.53%) to $62.35 a barrel.
