By: D’ORIGIN – Louisa Rahardjo and Veni Fitriani, Indonesian stocks made a technical rebound following a four-session of decline with investors look ahead Bank Indonesia rate decision later in the week.
Jakarta composite index climbed 49.002 points (+0.792%) to 6,239.527 while LQ45 rebounded 0.93% at 989.465. There were 8.451 billion shares traded worth of Rp3.576 trillion, including transaction of Rp493.92 billion in negotiation market. Foreign investors bought a net Rp54.18 billion in regular market during midday trade. 224 shares rose, while 173 declined, 127 unchanged, and 190 untraded.
According to JISDOR, rupiah added 10 points (+0.07%) at 14,334 while Spot stayed at 14,330 against the USD.
Stocks in Asia were mostly higher on Tuesday with investors looking for clues about potential rate cut as The Fed is scheduled to start a two-day monetary policy meeting on Tuesday stateside.
Meanwhile, investors also continued awaiting for the development on U.S. China trade dispute as hundreds of businesses stateside are attempting to send a message to U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration to discourage them from increasing tariffs on China following U.S. Commerce Secretary comment saying Trump is perfectly happy to impose new tariffs on China if the two economic powerhouses don’t make a deal.
Oil prices were slightly lower with Brent slipped 1 cent (-0.02%) at $60.93 per barrel while U.S. West Texas Intermediate slipped 1 cent (-0.02%) to $51.92 a barrel.
