D’ORIGIN Advisory, Louisa Rahardjo and Veni Fitriani – Indonesian stocks extended declines on Tuesday amid slumping rupiah and continued foreign outflows.
Jakarta composite fell 34.773 points (-0.569%) to 6,076.587 with LQ45 fell 0.59% at 969.300. Trading volume were 10.655 billion shares worth of Rp8.59 trillion including transaction of Rp2.36 trillion in negotiation market. Foreign investors sold a net Rp694.56 billion in regular market. 184 shares rose, while 250 declined, 125 unchanged and 127 untraded.
According to JISDOR, the currency tumbled 96 points (-0.66%) to 14,613, while Spot rate fell 45 points (-0.31%) at 14,595.00 against the USD.
Stocks in Asia were mixed while Europeans opened higher following a rebound in Wall Street overnight while investors continued to watch closely the development of trade talk between U.S. and China.
Back in Europe, overall sentiment remained relatively fragile amid deepening political turmoil over the U.K. government’s proposed Brexit deal after Prime Minister Theresa May abruptly postponed a parliamentary vote on Monday.
Oil prices swung as sentiment remained weak despite Libya’s National Oil Company declared force majeure on exports from the El Sharara oilfield. Brent slipped 23 cents (-0.38%) to $59.74 per barrel while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude retreated 18 cents (-0.35%) to $50.82 per barrel.
