D’ORIGIN Advisory, Louisa Rahardjo and Veni Fitriani – Indonesian stocks extended gains on Wednesday alongside with its currency tracking gains on regional markets as trade tensions eased.

 

Jakarta composite rose 62.143 points (+1.016%) to 6,177.72 with LQ45 rose 1.22% at 987.218. Trading volume were 13.899 billion shares worth of Rp10.956 trillion including transaction of Rp3.12 trillion in negotiation market. Foreign investors bought a net Rp423.67 billion in regular market. 271 shares rose, while 160 declined, 138 unchanged and 118 untraded.

 

According to JISDOR, the currency climbed 41 points (+0.28%) to 14,577, while Spot rate rose 105 points (0.719%) to 14,490.00 against the USD.

 

Asian stock rose while Europeans were mixed amid hopes for positive development in U.S. – China trade talks.

 

Data overnight showed Annual inflation rate in the US fell to 2.2% in November of 2018 from 2.5% in October, matching market expectations. It is the lowest reading since February. On a monthly basis, consumer prices were unchanged after rising 0.3% in October and also in line with forecasts.

 

In the U.K., Prime Minister Theresa May won a vote of confidence in her leadership of the Conservative Party, with Tory members of Parliament backing her by 200 to 117 in the secret ballot.

 

Oil prices edged up after U.S. crude inventories fell by 1.2 million barrels in the week to Dec. 7, compared with market expectations for a decrease of 3 million barrels. Brent climbed 21 cents (0.350%) to $60.36 per barrel while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude rose 20 cents (+0.39%) to $51.35 per barrel.
