D’ORIGIN Advisory, Louisa Rahardjo and Veni Fitriani – Indonesian stocks slightly retreated and rupiah weakened with six sectors declined on Friday morning.

 

Jakarta composite slipped 3.783 points (-0.061%) to 6,173.937 with LQ45 added 0.01% at 987.348. Trading volume were 5.07 billion shares worth of Rp4.108 trillion including transaction of Rp843.26 billion in negotiation market. Foreign investors sold a net Rp201.35 billion in regular market during midday trade. 170 shares rose, while 204 declined, 139 unchanged and 174 untraded.

 

According to JISDOR, the currency slipped 2 points (-0.01%) to 14,538, while Spot rate slipped 60 points (-0.41%) to 14,550.00 against the USD.

 

Asian stocks were mostly higher following weaker than expected Chinese economic data.

 

Industrial output in November grew 5.4% from a year ago, the slowest pace in almost three years. Meanwhile, retail sales rose 8.1% in November, the weakest pace since 2003, lower than the 8.8% the analysts expected. November retail sales growth was down from 8.6% in October.

 

On other news, Tankan survey showed business confidence in Japan remained unchanged at 19 Index Points in the fourth quarter of 2018 from 19 Index Points in the third quarter of 2018.

 

Oil prices were mixed with Brent fell 36 cents (-0.59%) to $61.09 per barrel while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude slipped 15 cents (-0.29%) to $52.43 per barrel.
