D’ORIGIN Advisory, Louisa Rahardjo and Veni Fitriani – Indonesian stocks slightly retreated and rupiah weakened with six sectors declined on Friday.

 

Jakarta composite slipped 7 points (-0.128%) to 6,173.937 with LQ45 fell 0.05% at 986.654. Trading volume were 10.021 billion shares worth of Rp9.65 trillion including transaction of Rp2.85 trillion in negotiation market. Foreign investors sold a net Rp26.01 billion in regular market. 164 shares rose, while 236 declined, 163 unchanged and 124 untraded.

 

According to JISDOR, the currency slipped 2 points (-0.01%) to 14,538, while Spot rate weakened 90 points (-0.62%) to 14,580.00 against the USD.

 

Asian and Europeans tumbled following weaker than expected Chinese economic data, alongside with U.S. equity futures.

 

Industrial output in November grew 5.4% from a year ago, the slowest pace in almost three years. Meanwhile, retail sales rose 8.1% in November, the weakest pace since 2003, lower than the 8.8% the analysts expected. November retail sales growth was down from 8.6% in October.

 

On other news, Tankan survey showed business confidence in Japan remained unchanged at 19 Index Points in the fourth quarter of 2018 from 19 Index Points in the third quarter of 2018.

 

Back in Europe, The European Central Bank announced Thursday it was bringing to an end a crisis-era bond-buying program this month. However, the central bank said Thursday it plans to reinvest cash from maturing bonds for an extended period of time beyond its next interest rate hike.

 

Oil prices fell amid profit taking with Brent fell 61 cents (-0.99%) to $60.84 per barrel while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude slipped 42 cents (-0.80%) to $52.16 per barrel.
