Jakarta composite fell 80.538 points (-1.305%) to 6,089.305 with LQ45 fell 1.57% at 971.159. Trading volume were 12.221 billion shares worth of Rp8.519 trillion including transaction of Rp2.77 trillion in negotiation market. Foreign investors sold a net Rp476.88 billion in regular market. 157 shares rose, while 280 declined, 131 unchanged and 119 untraded.
Indonesia posted a trade deficit USD 2.05 billion in November 2018, swinging from a USD 1.82 billion surplus in the same month a year earlier, beating market consensus of a USD 0.83 billion gap. Exports went down 3.28% to USD 14.83 billion, missing expectations of 3.95% rise. Meanwhile, imports rose 11.68%, above forecasts of a 10.5% gain.
Meanwhile, the Indonesian government has decided not to increase the excise tax on tobacco products for 2019.
According to JISDOR, the currency fell 79 points (-0.54%) to 14,617, while Spot rate added 10 points (+0.07%) to 14,570.00 against the USD.
European stocks were lower while Asians finished higher despite lingering trade uncertainty and signs of slowing economies, while look ahead the U.S. Federal Open Market Committee to start a two-day meeting on tomorrow.
Oil prices climbed after energy services firm Baker Hughes counts showed U.S. drillers cut four oil rigs in the week to Dec. 14, pulling the total count to the lowest since mid-October at 873. Brent added 8 cents (+0.13%) to $60.36 per barrel while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude added 3 cents (+0.06%) to $51.23 per barrel.
