D’ORIGIN Advisory, Louisa Rahardjo and Veni Fitriani – Indonesian stocks finished just above psychological level of 6,000 on Monday, slightly retreated from its four-day rally, while foreign inflows continued.
Jakarta composite slipped 7.053 points (-0.117%) to 6,005.297 with LQ45 slipped 0.30% at 956.332. Trading volume were 7.392 billion shares worth of Rp6.568 trillion including transaction of Rp1.33 trillion in negotiation market. Foreign investors purchased a net Rp540.31 billion in regular market. 194 shares rose, while 209 declined, 143 unchanged and 134 untraded.
According to JISDOR, the currency added 8 points (+0.05%) to 14,586, while Spot rate rose 23 points (+0.157%) at 14,585.00 against the USD.
Stocks in Asia and Europe were mostly higher following fresh developments in British politics while as investors remained cautious over the ongoing tensions between the United States and China.
On the data front, Japan recorded a trade deficit of JPY 449 billion in October 2018 compared to a JPY 278.6 billion surplus in the same month a year ago, much worse than market expectations of a JPY 70 billion gap. Imports surged 19.9% (vs 7.0% in September) and exports advanced at a slower 8.2% (vs -1.3% in September). Meanwhile in Europe, Euro Area recorded a Current Account surplus of 24.07 EUR Billion in September of 2018.
Oil prices were higher as OPEC is pushing for the producer cartel and its allies to cut 1 million to 1.4 million barrels per day of supply. Brent crude added 39 cents (+0.58%) to $67.15 per barrel while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures added 48 cents (+0.85%) to $56.94 per barrel.
