D’ORIGIN Advisory, Louisa Rahardjo and Veni Fitriani – Indonesian stocks made a solid rebound on Wednesday following a three-day declines with all but trade rose while foreign outflows continued.
Jakarta composite index rose 94.227 points (+1.549%) to 6,176.094 with LQ45 jumped 2.04% at 990.633. Trading volume were 19.809 billion shares worth of Rp11.42 trillion including transaction of Rp4.35 trillion in negotiation market. Foreign investors sold a net Rp176.18 billion in regular market. 231 shares rose, while 240 declined, 145 unchanged and 129 untraded.
According to JISDOR, the currency rose 143 points (+0.98%) to 14,380, while Spot rate strengthened 60 points (+0.414%) to 14,435.00 against the USD.
Stocks in Asia were mixed while Europeans opened higher ahead of Federal Reserve’s policy decision with dramatic fall in the price of oil spurred speculation the U.S. Federal Reserve might be done with monetary tightening.
On the data front, Japan trade balance shifted to a deficit of JPY 737.3 billion in November 2018 from a surplus of JPY 105.2 billion in the same month a year earlier and worse than market estimates of a gap of JPY 450 billion. Imports jumped 12.5% year-on-year while exports edged up 0.1%. Meanwhile in Europe, investors will receive U.K. inflation rate figures for November.
In energy markets, oil prices mixed on Wednesday after being hammered for three previous sessions amid worries about oversupply and a slowing global economy. Brent added 21 cents (+0.37%) to $56.47 per barrel while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude added 6 cents (+0.13%) to $46.30 per barrel.
