D’ORIGIN – Louisa Rahardjo and Veni Fitriani, Indonesian were higher on Tuesday with agriculture sectors soared more than 2% while three sectors remained under pressure. Market will pause tomorrow for public holiday.

 

Jakarta composite index rose 23.455 points (+0.363%) to 6,476.066 while LQ45 climbed 0.34% at 1,019.706. Trading volume were 14.578 billion shares worth of Rp8.455 trillion including transaction of Rp2.58 trillion in negotiation market. Foreign investors purchased a net Rp86.25 billion in regular market. 195 shares rose, while 227 declined, 152 unchanged, and 129 untraded.

 

According to JISDOR, the currency slipped 6 points (-0.04%) to 14,237 while Spot rate added 5 points (+0.035%) to 14,215.00 against the USD.

 

Asian and European stocks were mostly higher as worries on slowing global economy eased while with investors remained focus on Brexit situations as the parliament once again failed to reach a consensus for any proposed alternative to Prime Minister Theresa May’s Brexit deal.

 

Data overnight showed the ISM Manufacturing PMI in the US rose to 55.3 in March of 2019, rebounding from 54.2 in February which was the lowest reading since November of 2016.

 

On central bank news, the Reserve Bank of Australia kept its policy cash rate unchanged at 1.50% in line with market expectations.

 

Oil prices extended gains to a fresh high for the year amid U.S. sanctions against Iran and Venezuela as well as OPEC supply cut. Brent rose 24 cents (+0.35%) at $69.25 per barrel while U.S. West Texas Intermediate up 27 cents (+0.42%) to $61.85 barrel.
