By: D’ORIGIN – Louisa Rahardjo and Veni Fitriani, Indonesian stocks finished higher on Thursday with rupiah rebounded and foreign net inflows continued. Meanwhile, Investors are looking for directions amid uncertainties in Sino-US trade dispute and upcoming presidential election.
Jakarta composite index added 18.564 points (+0.287%) to 6,494.63 while LQ45 rose 0.61% at 1,025.959. Trading volume were 15.338 billion shares worth of Rp10.554 trillion including transaction of Rp2.33 trillion in negotiation market. Foreign investors purchased a net Rp748.21 billion in regular market. 190 shares rose, while 242 declined, 139 unchanged, and 132 untraded.
According to JISDOR, the currency rebounded 55 points (+0.39%) to 14,182 while Spot rate added 40 points (+0.28%) to 14,175.00 against the USD.
Asian stocks were mixed while Europeans were lower on Thursday with investors are looking for fresh catalysts while awaiting further results from U.S.-China trade negotiations.
On the data front, German industrial orders dropped unexpectedly by 4.2% month-over-month in February 2019, missing market expectations of a 0.3% rise and following a downwardly revised 2.1% fall in January. This was the second straight month of decline in factory orders and the steepest since January 2017.
Oil prices edged down after Crude oil inventories in the United States rose by 7.2 million barrels last week. Brent slipped 22 cents (-0.32%) at $69.09 per barrel while U.S. West Texas Intermediate down 18 cents (-0.29%) to $62.28 a barrel.
