D’ORIGIN – Louisa Rahardjo and Veni Fitriani, Indonesian stocks finished higher on Wednesday with six sectors rebounded before market close tomorrow for silent day.
Jakarta composite index added 16.677 points (+0.259%) to 6,457.957 with LQ45 added 0.15% at 1,009.306. Trading volume were 23.107 billion shares worth of Rp15.117 trillion including transaction of Rp8.99 trillion in negotiation market. Foreign investors sold a net Rp114.61 billion in regular market while in all markets, foreign net inflows reached Rp4.112 trillion. 220 shares rose, while 204 declined, 153 unchanged, and 124 untraded.
French tire manufacturer Michelin has acquired 80% of Indonesian Multistrada Arah Sarana (MASA) for $439 million to strengthen its presence in Southeast Asia’s largest market.
According to JISDOR, the currency added 17 points (+0.12%) to 14,146, while Spot rate fell 20 points (-0.14%) to 14,135.00 against the USD.
Asian and European stocks were mixed on Wednesday with investors awaiting for clarity on U.S-China trade dispute. Meanwhile, investors continued to focus on China’s economy after its government lowered growth forecast.
On the data front, Australian annual GDP rose a below-trend 2.3%, the slowest since mid-2017 and confounding expectations for a 2.5% increase.
Oil prices retreated after API data showed U.S. crude inventories rose by 7.3 million barrels in the week ending March 1 to 451.5 million, compared with analysts’ expectations for an increase of 1.2 million barrels. Brent slipped 40 cents (-0.61%) at $65.46 per barrel while U.S. West Texas Intermediate fell 55 cents (-0.97%) to $56.01 barrel.
