Jakarta composite index rose 9.391 points (+0.15%) to 6,272.238 while LQ45 slipped 0.07% at 996.771. Trading volume were 15.391 billion shares worth of Rp9.737 trillion including transaction of Rp2.35 trillion in negotiation market. Foreign investors purchased a net Rp500.1 billion in regular market. 253 shares rose, while 183 declined, 147 unchanged and 108 untraded.
According to JISDOR, the currency slipped 89 points (-0.63%) to 14,120, while Spot rate added 20 points (+0.141%) to 14,120.00 against the USD.
Asian and European stocks rallied on Wednesday amid optimism that U.S. and China would reach a trade deal as the negotiations were extended into an unscheduled third day with President Donald Trump tweeted Tuesday “Talks with China are going very well.”
In terms of data, The German trade surplus decreased to EUR 20.5 billion in November 2018 from EUR 23.8 billion in the same month a year earlier, as imports rose by 3.6% to EUR 95.7 billion, while exports were nearly unchanged at EUR 116.3 billion. Considering January to November 2018, the trade surplus narrowed to EUR 214.2 billion from EUR 229.5 billion in the corresponding period of the previous year.
Meanwhile, Europe remains attentive to politics, with the U.K. Parliament expected to vote on the government’s deal with the EU on January 15 as the U.K. is set to leave the European Union on March 29.
Oil prices rose again with Brent added 61 cents (+1.04%) to $59.52 per barrel while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude climbed 58 cents (+1.17%) to $50.36 per barrel.
