D’ORIGIN Advisory, Louisa Rahardjo and Veni Fitriani – Indonesian equity retraced some of previous losses with finance shares led gains despite selloff in regional markets.
Jakarta composite added 58.145 points (+1.006%) to 5,835.198 with LQ45 rose 1.37% at 920.141. Trading volume were 9.69 billion shares worth of Rp7.88 trillion including transaction of Rp1.81 trillion in negotiation market. Foreign investors purchased a net Rp119.5 billion in regular market. 174 shares rose, while 206 declined, 157 unchanged and 140 untraded.
According to JISDOR, the currency fell 148 points (-0.99%) to 14,895, while Spot rate added 5 points (+0.034%) at 14,805.00 against the USD.
Asian stocks were mostly lower while Europeans opened higher on Tuesday following a tech-led slump on Wall Street overnight. In the meantime, investors watched oil prices closely and the continued strengthening of the dollar.
In Europe, Italy has until the end of Tuesday to submit a new budget plan for 2019 to the European Commission while Brexit also continue to be the main issue in the union.
In the oil markets, the U.S. crude futures continued to see sharp declines after posting its 11th straight loss on Monday amid a sell-off in the U.S stock market and renewed dollar strength. Brent crude fell 86 cents (-1.23%) to $69.26 per barrel while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures declined $1.02 (-1.70%) to $58.91 per barrel.
