Indonesian stocks finished slightly higher on Wednesday after swinging between gains and losses amid mixed sentiments in global markets.

 

Jakarta composite index added 2.434 points (+0.03%) to 6,482.71 with LQ45 climbed 0.1% at 1,020.387. Trading volume were 16.591 billion shares worth of Rp8.12 trillion including transaction of Rp1.85 trillion in negotiation market. Foreign investors purchased a net Rp83.01 billion. 194 shares rose, while 123 declined, 156 unchanged, and 139 untraded.

 

According to JISDOR, the currency slipped 3 points (-0.02%) to 14,231, while Spot rate rose 45 points (+0.32%) to 14,180.00 against the USD.

 

Shares in Asia and Europe were mostly lower on Wednesday as the U.S. Federal Reserve is set to announce its decision on interest rates later in the day while U.S.-China trade dispute remain in focus.

 

Back in Europe, British Prime Minister Theresa May is set to ask the European Union to delay Brexit by at least three months. On the data front, the annual inflation rate in the United Kingdom rose to 1.9% in February 2019 from 1.8% in the previous month and above market expectations of 1.8%.

 

Meanwhile, oil prices pulled back with crude prices retreated from its four-month high. Brent slipped 4 cents (-0.06%) at $67.57 per barrel while U.S. West Texas Intermediate fell 22 cents (-0.37%) to $58.81barrel.
