D’ORIGIN – Louisa Rahardjo and Veni Fitriani, Indonesian stocks resumed rally with eight sectors rose on Tuesday, erasing early losses, amid continued inflows from investors overseas despite declines in global markets after the IMF cut global economic forecast.

 

Jakarta composite index added 17.729 points (+0.275%) to 6,468.563 while LQ45 added 0.19% at 1,031.063. Trading volume were 12.626 billion shares worth of Rp10.161 trillion including transaction of Rp1.887 trillion in negotiation market. Foreign investors purchased a net 100.36 billion in regular market. 212 shares rose, while 244 declined, 129 unchanged and 112 untraded.

 

According to JISDOR, the currency slipped 9 points (-0.06%) to 14,221, while Spot rate added 10 points (+0.21%) to 14,205.00 against the USD.

 

Stock in Asia and Europe were lower on Tuesday alongside with U.S. futures amid cautious for slowing economy after the IMF slashed its estimates for global growth while investors continued to focus on the Brexit plan.

 

The IMF now projects a 3.5% growth rate worldwide for 2019 and 3.6% for 2020. These are 0.2 and 0.1 percentage points below its last forecasts in October, making it the second downturn revision in three months.

 

Oil prices also declined with Brent fell 57 cents (-0.91%) to $62.17 per barrel while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude retreated 42 cents (-0.78%) to $53.38 per barrel.
