D’ORIGIN Advisory, Louisa Rahardjo and Veni Fitriani – Indonesian stocks fell after Bank Indonesia kept its benchmark interest rate unchanged on Tuesday while global sentiments continued weighing on equity markets.

 

Jakarta composite fell 42.544 (-0.728%) to 5,797.891 with LQ45 slipped 0.82% at 910.844. Trading volume were 7.821 billion shares worth of Rp5.688 trillion including transaction of Rp983.10 billion in negotiation market. Foreign investors sold a net Rp121.03 billion in regular market. 144 shares rose, while 273 declined, 119 unchanged and 133 untraded.

 

Bank Indonesia held the seven-day reverse repurchase rate was held at 5.75%, saying the current level is consistent with efforts to narrow the current account gap and maintains attractiveness of the country’s assets.

 

According to JISDOR, the currency slipped 16 points (-0.11%) to 15,208 while spot rate slipped 5 cents (-0.03%) at 15,185.00 against the USD.

 

Asian and European stocks tumbled amid lingering risks in global markets from trade war to geopolitical tensions due to the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi at a consulate in Turkey earlier this month.

 

Oil prices were tumbled amid mixed sentiment ahead U.S. sanctions against Iran while Saudi Arabia pledged to keep markets supplied despite the ongoing concern surrounding the killing of Jamal Khashoggi.
