D’ORIGIN – Louisa Rahardjo and Veni Fitriani, Indonesian shares finished higher on Monday with earnings season continued and markets remained cautious ahead of U.S. policy decision. Meanwhile, as much as Rp52 trillion foreign funds entered equity markets on the merger of BDMN and BBNP.

 

Jakarta composite index added 24.816 points (+0.388%) to 6,425.896 while LQ45 rose 0.27% at 1,013.471. Trading volume were 18.422 billion shares worth of Rp61.247 trillion including transaction of Rp55.15 trillion in negotiation market. Foreign investors sold a net Rp336.69 regular market. 251 shares rose, while 191 declined, 145 unchanged, and 123 untraded.

 

According to JISDOR, rupiah stayed at 14,188 while Spot rate slipped 15 points (-0.11%) to 14,195.00 against the USD.

 

Asian and European stocks traded mixed on Monday as markets sentiments remained fragile even after Wall Street finished at record highs on Friday following the release of better-than-expected U.S. economic data with the U.S. central bank’s is due to announce its latest monetary policy decision on Wednesday..

 

First-quarter gross domestic product expanded by 3.2%, the Bureau of Economic Analysis said in its initial read of the economy for that period while Economists polled expected the U.S. economy increased by 2.5% in the first quarter.

 

Oil prices fell on Monday, extending a slump from Friday that ended weeks of rallying, after President Donald Trump demanded that producer club OPEC raise output to soften the impact of U.S. sanctions against Iran. Brent fell 94 cents (-1.30%) at $71.21 per barrel while U.S. West Texas Intermediate fell 66 cents (-1.04%) to $62.64 a barrel.
