
Indonesian stocks were flat on Friday after two days of gains on the back of easing concerns surrounding Evergrande crisis. Foreign capital inflows continued.
Jakarta composite edged up 2.103 points (+0.034%) to 6,144.815 while LQ45 added 0.08% to 866.249. There were 22.782 billion shares traded worth of Rp13.922 trillion, including transaction of Rp1.068 trillion in negotiation market. Foreign investors purchased a net Rp1.7 trillion in regular market. 186 shares rose while 332 declined and 149 unchanged.
KAEF has finally released its financial statements for the first semester of 2021. Net sales grew 18.57% to Rp5.55 trillion in the first half of the year, from Rp4.68 trillion in previous year. However, the company recorded operating profit decreased by 1.99% from Rp365.03 billion in the first semester of 2020 to Rp357.75 billion in the first semester of 2021. Net profit attributable to owners of the parent entity increased 18.57% to Rp57.60 billion in the first semester of 2021 from the same period in the previous year of Rp48.57 billion.
HRUM soared, extending gains for a third day. The company continues to expand their business in the nickel industry. In August, HRUM through its subsidiary, PT Tanito Harum Nickel, increased its ownership in the nickel smelter company Infei Metal Industri, to 39.2%, after spending upto $45.03 million to increase its ownership in Australia’s nickel mining company, Nickel Mines Limited.
According to JISDOR released Friday afternoon, added 6 points (-0.04%) at 14,250 while spot rate slipped 15 points (-0.11%) at 14,255.
Stocks in Asia were mixed while Europeans edged lower with investors continue to watch risks surrounding China’s debt crisis as uncertainty remains.
Meanwhile, investors were optimistic that the U.S. Federal Reserve’s decision to start hiking interest rates in 2022 was a sign of confidence in the economic recovery from COVID-19. The central bank handed down its latest policy decision on Wednesday.
On the data front, Japan’s consumer prices declined by 0.4% yoy in August 2021, after a 0.3% drop a month earlier. This was the eleventh straight month of decrease in consumer prices, amid weakening consumption due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The Ifo Business Climate indicator for Germany declined for a 3rd consecutive month to 98.8 in September of 2021 from an upwardly revised 99.6 in August and compared to market forecasts of 98.9.
In other news, the Bank of England on Thursday kept monetary policy unchanged and downgraded economic growth projections for the third quarter of this year.
Gold regained some ground on Friday. Meanwhile, Cryptocurrency market appeared to be on the upswing and even the top cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Cardano and so on seem to be doing well as data indicated that they were trading green over the past 24 hours.
Oil prices rose for a fourth day, with brent hit three-year highs. Brent crude up 34 cents (+0.44%) at $77.59 per barrel and U.S WTI added 19 cents (+0.26%) at $73.49 barrel.
