D’ORIGIN Advisory, Louisa Rahardjo and Veni Fitriani – Indonesian stocks were higher on Monday amid gains in global markets and stronger rupiah. Six sectors rose while mining sector tumbled nearly 3%.
Jakarta composite added 16.576 points (+0.276%) to 6,022.778 with LQ45 added 0.32% at 962.949. Trading volume were 9.608 billion shares worth of Rp7.28 trillion including transaction of Rp1.34 trillion in negotiation market. Foreign investors purchased a net Rp134.96 billion in regular market. 189 shares rose, while 233 declined, 133 unchanged and 125 untraded.
According to JISDOR, the currency added 1 point (+0.006%) to 14,591, while Spot rate rose 65 points (+0.4472%) at 14,472.00 against the USD.
Asian markets were mostly higher on Monday with investors are looking ahead at a highly anticipated meeting between President Xi Jinping and President Donald Trump at the upcoming G-20 summit in Buenos Aires at the end of this week. Meanwhile in Europe, markets made solid gains after leaders from the European Union chose to endorse the Brexit withdrawal deal over the weekend.
Oil prices clawed back from their lowest levels in more than a year after massive selloff over the weekend. Brent crude rose $1.18 (+2.01 %) to $59.98 per barrel while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures added 77 cents (+1.63%) to $51.19 per barrel.
