By D’ORIGIN Advisory, Louisa Rahardjo and Veni Fitriani – Indonesian stocks extended gains despite declines in regional markets and weaker rupiah. As much as Rp1.66 trillion foreign capital entered equity market with Rp1.38 trillion came through the purchase of BRPT.

 

Jakarta composite rose 34.54 points (+0.565%) to 6,152.86 with LQ45 rose 0.73% at 985.961. Trading volume were 12.626 billion shares worth of Rp10.892 trillion including transaction of Rp3.28 trillion in negotiation market. Foreign investors bought a net Rp264.54 billion in regular market. 199 shares rose, while 234 declined, 137 unchanged and 112 untraded.

 

According to JISDOR, the currency slipped 41 points (-0.29%) to 14,293, while Spot rate retreated 50 points (-0.35%) at 14,285.00 against the USD.

 

Stocks in Asia and Europe were mostly lower following Monday’s rally as the details of the trade agreement struck between U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping remain uncertain.

 

Meanwhile in energy market, oil prices extended gains ahead of a critical OPEC meeting on Thursday with Brent crude rose 68 cents (+1.10%) to $62.37 per barrel while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures jumped 63 cents (+1.19%) to $53.58 per barrel.
