D’ORIGIN Advisory, Louisa Rahardjo and Veni Fitriani – Indonesian stocks fell for a second day as rupiah continued weakening amid lingering global risks.

 

Jakarta composite slipped 17.627 points (-0.287%) to 6,115.493 with LQ45 fell 0.26% at 976.972. Trading volume were 9.972 billion shares worth of Rp8.508 trillion including transaction of Rp2.03 trillion in negotiation market. Foreign investors sold a net Rp316.18 billion in regular market. 159 shares rose, while 279 declined, 140 unchanged and 104 untraded.

 

According to JISDOR, the currency fell 124 points (-0.86%) to 14,507, while Spot rate retreated 125 points (-0.87 %) at 14,515.00 against the USD.

 

Asian and European stocks tumbled along with U.S. equity futures amid a bunch of economic risks in global markets including trade dispute and rout in oil markets.

 

On the data front, Australia’s trade surplus narrowed to AUD 2.32 billion in October 2018 from a marginally revised AUD 2.94 billion in the previous month, below market consensus of a AUD 3.2 billion surplus. Exports rose 1% to an all-time high of AUD 38.05 billion while imports rose at a faster 3% to a fresh record high of AUD 35.73 billion.

 

Oil prices dipped further ahead of a closely watched meeting by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries. Brent fell $1.31 (-2.06%) to $60.29 per barrel while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude tumbled $1.2 (-2.27%) to $51.69 per barrel.
