D’ORIGIN – Louisa Rahardjo and Veni Fitriani, Indonesian stocks retreated for a second day amid concerns over global sentiments while investors digested FY18 corporate results.

 

Jakarta composite index fell 22.232 points (-0.344%) to 6,436.48 with LQ45 slipped 0.35% at 1,015.517. Trading volume were 11.669 billion shares worth of Rp9.697 trillion including transaction of Rp2.299 trillion in negotiation market. Foreign investors purchased a net of 165.23 billion in regular market. 171 shares rose, while 258 declined, 142 unchanged and 127 untraded.

 

According to JISDOR, the currency declined 60 points (-0.43%) to 14,098, while Spot rate fell 25 points (-0.18%) to 14,090.00 against the USD.

 

Stocks in Asia retreated while Europeans rose with market continued to focus on renewed trade tensions after Washington leveled sweeping charges against Beijing’s telecom giant Huawei. Meanwhile, investors also monitored fresh earnings and another potentially decisive Brexit vote as the U.K. is expected to leave the bloc in two months.

 

Meanwhile in energy markets, oil prices climbed after Washington imposed sanctions on Venezuelan state-owned oil firm PDVSA in a step set to severely curb the OPEC member’s crude exports to the United States. Brent added 50 cents (+0.83%) at $60.43 per barrel while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude climbed 42 cents (+0.81%) to $52.41 per barrel.
